Is brow lift surgery for you?

Is brow lift surgery for you?

A brow lift is performed on the forehead and eyebrow area. A lift is beneficial if your eyebrows have dropped below the level of the bony margin of the orbit which gives the appearance of hooding of the eyes. In some people, this is partly due to having excess tissue in the upper eyelid. However in others, there is also a component of brow droop.

To test this on yourself, use your thumb to pull the forehead skin just above the outer half of your eyebrow. If it provides the look that you desire, a brow lift might be for you.

In younger patients with a smaller amount of brow droop, or those who don’t like the shape of their brow, botulinum toxin injections can be used to the change appearance. Injections usually need to be repeated every three months to maintain a result.

Brow lift surgery is a day case, and most of the bruising and swelling will have resolved within two weeks. The incision is hidden in the hairline, although in bald men and those patients with quite wrinkled foreheads, a smaller procedure can be undertaken which produces a scar just on the line of the eyebrow. This procedure is performed under local anaesthetic in the rooms.
