We are frequently asked what implant volume determines what bra size. The answer is very simple – it doesn’t! there are two reasons for this.
Firstly every bra manufacturer uses its own unique sizing system, which is why you can be a B cup in one make, and a D in another. Generally “professional” underwear manufacturers such as Belie, Playtex and Triumph tend to use larger letters, whereas “fashion” brands use a smaller lettering size. We think that this is pure marketing, as the fashion brands tend to want to make you feel good about yourself, whereas the professional bra manufacturers just want you to be comfortable. There is no international standard for bra sizing.
The second point is that the same implant will look completely different in two different people because of different height, weight, amount of breast tissue and different rations of their shoulders, chest, waist and hips. A 400cc implant may look huge in a dwarf, but tiny in a giant.
Lastly, does it matter what size bra you wear? You don’t go to an open home clutching a number 6 and insist that you need one of those – you decide if you like the house, then see what the address is. The same is true for breasts. As long as you like the appearance of your breasts in the context of the rest of your figure, does it matter what is printed on a tiny label on your bra?
