Skin Cancer removal during Covid-19

Skin cancers are common in Australia, particularly for older Australians who are also most at risk from COVID-19 infection. We provide a skin cancer removal service in our rooms, without putting patients or our team, at more risk than is necessary.

There are 3 common types of skin cancers;
1. Basal cell carcinoma (BCC). This is the commonest skin cancer, particularly in those over 50 years old
2. Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC)
3. Melanoma

If left untreated, skin cancers can not only spread, but they can form ulcers.

It’s preferable to obtain a GP referral, but GPs are currently snowed under, so we don’t insist on receiving a referral from your GP. I will communicate with your GP to let them know the outcome of your consultation with us.

For 15 years we’ve treated skin cancers in our rooms. Our costs are the same as they were in 2010. You come to the rooms, I assess whether your skin cancer(s) can be treated safely under local anaesthetic and if that’s possible, you have your procedure the same day and return for a follow up appointment to have your stitches taken out. At that appointment, we give you your results, a copy of which has been emailed to your GP.

CONSULTATION FEE:$150 (of which $75.05 is reclaimable from Medicare if you have a referral from a doctor/$61 if you don’t have a referral).

COST OF PROCEDURE:$500 (not claimable) including removal of up to two lesions, all materials, sutures, dressings, follow-up care and 24/7 on call emergency advice from out nursing team.

If you’d like to make an appointment, please call (03) 8768 5000.
